Annette Funicello did not only perform and sing, she was also an actor. Most famously, she was one of Mickey Mouse Club's "Mouseketeers". Her singing began in her teens and became famous for her hit songs "Tall Paul" and "Pineapple Princess." Annette was brought up in Utica by Italian-immigrant parents. Her shyness was evident as an infant. She wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry and soon took on acting and dancing. In the mid-1950s, she played in numerous Disney sketches in the role of part of one the "Mouseketeers" and gained considerable popularity. Annette could shed her 'Disney" persona that she developed when she was a kid and took various adult characters. She was best known as one of the very first actors to pioneer"beach parties" and the "beach party" style of film. The films she appeared in included "How to Stuff a wild bikini.' Pajama Party.' and Beach Party. Annette was recording music from time-to-time. Annette had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1992 and passed away of the illness in 2013.
